Our first visitors!

My friend Alison and her family came up for the weekend. We had a pretty laid back visit...we picked strawberries on Friday, did a little shopping on Saturday and went to the creek (followed by a visit to an urgent care clinic for Chris' sprained ankle) on Sunday. Alison's husband, John, helped Rich do a couple things around here, which I thought was WONDERFUL, because he is much stronger than me!
Even Midnight got in on the fun at the creek!
Rich hates cold water...and this water was FREEZING! But, Rich braved the cold for Annabelle! He even slipped on the slimy rocks and ended up getting super wet! Lucky Anna!

Bats!

We had bats in one of the columns at my parents house last year. When Donnie and Luv-Ann came to visit last July we smoked, then soaked them out, but failed to cover the hole to keep them from coming back. They didn't come back immediately, but we noticed the "smell" and the noise a month or so ago. Anyway, Alison and her family are here this weekend, so we went down to my parents to watch the bats fly out at dusk. I'm so excited that I caught it on video!

*Updated* Kalee's last Baseball game...and house stuff, of course!

Here is Kalee patiently waiting for a kid to hit the ball. Gee, can you see why baseball isn't Kalee's favorite sport? There is an awful lot of standing around!!! BUT, she got the ball and made the play!

Tonight was Kalee's last baseball game! I think we are all a little relieved! Here are 2 video's of her turn at bat. She's so cute!

Rich planted the Cherry Tree's yesterday! I was so excited to get home to see them. They look a little sad, since they were clumped together for so long, but we love how they line the driveway and can't wait until they grow!I bought 3 stools to use at the bar in the kitchen...So, it's not pretty, but here is the guest bedroom...all set up for our first guests this weekend! My friend Alison and her family are coming up Thursday evening! I am soooo excited! I'm still waiting on the comforter that I ordered - once I receive that I will be able to paint the room (I need it to match the color).

Baseball...and a productive afternoon!

Kalee had her second to last baseball game this morning. She is hitting the ball really great - her coach keeps telling her she is "crushing" it! I took some pics today - I'll try to get some video at her last game on Tuesday.
She hit this ball all the way to the fence!

I know it will be a while before we finish the basement, so I had the idea to attach material to the studs, so that the room will look a little more "finished". I bought some linen material today and my mom and I started to put it up tonight. It looks great - I am very happy with the result! I am definitely going to put material up in the other room, too - and set it up for when we have company! I'm thinking that I could probably put some insulation in the ceiling and attach the material up there, too. Hmmm....Kalee and I borrowed Guitar Hero from my cousins - and stayed up WAY too late playing it!

Kalee's New 'Do!

Yesterday Kalee mentioned that she wanted to get another "bob" hair cut, and luckily our hair stylist had an available appointment today! She looks super cute! In other news - her front tooth is finally growing in! She is glad about that!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a nice Mother's Day today - pretty laid back! I unpacked a few more boxes and Rich hung more of the blinds. Kalee and I went back to my parents and packed even more boxes - that girl has wayyyyyy to0 much stuff! My parents and grammie came to our house for dinner and then Rich and I relaxed on the porch - while Kalee slept on the couch.
I added the flower arrangement to our bathroom.
Kalee and I also had our first "girls" night. We are going to pamper ourselves once a week (or at least try!), by soaking our feet in the tub and then painting our nails!

A cute kid, a cute puppy...and a cute Rich, I guess!

The first night...

Ok - so, I'm a geek...the camera was in my car and I found it when I left for lunch. Anyway, here are a few pics...

Kalee was worried that she was going to fall off the bed during the night! It's quite the change from the queen size bed she's been sleeping on!Rich set our bed up yesterday. I thought the room would look smaller, but somehow it seems bigger to me now!Poor Jade won't sit down and relax...she's back to following me wherever I go.Rich has most of his clothes in his closet...and they only take up part of the top level. He's got room to grow...ha!
Last night was our first night sleeping in the house. We all did great - even Jade! It was kind of strange having Kalee ALL the way on the other side of the house, but she went right to sleep. I took a picture of her, but forgot my camera at home. I also LOVE our shower - it really is awesome. I know the big tiles were not fun to work with, but they are beautiful! I felt like I was in a spa! :) I also realized that I wouldn't see Kalee in the mornings, if I still didn't fix her hair. Rich gets her up and fed and takes her to school, but normally we are all falling over each other in the one bathroom. Not anymore! I kind of missed her this morning!

A few pictures...

Here are a few pictures of what we have accomplished so far...
All the shutters are on the house now...Rich bought the rocking chairs I wanted, yesterday, and put them together for me!
More shutters...
The beginnings of Kalee's room. The black really does tone down the pink...even though you can't really tell in this picture! I was happy that her bed turned out to be the perfect color. I thought it was going to be more of a brown, but it is black - so glad I didn't have to paint it! Kalee helped her Papa set up her bed and she set up all the items in her bathroom. The "staging" room is a complete mess, but she had fun, so I guess I can overlook the mess for now!
Her little dresser. We still have to place things and get some stuff on the wall. She can't wait to put up the items her Aunt Betsy sent her!
The kitchen is completely set up - and I have cabinets and a drawer to spare, which is great!

We are very happy with how the wood floors turned out. Love the stain color.
I really love the stairs!
The slate needs another coat of sealer, but after that we will be ready to use the shower - woo hoo!

I have already tested out the washer and dryer! No more sharing with Grammie (which is obvious because there are still clothes sitting in the dryer from last weekend. Grammie would have had them out and folded up, already. Maybe sharing wasn't such a bad thing!)
Rich just moved our bed up to the house this morning, so tonight will be our first night there. We are supposed to close today at 11, but we will see...they called me yesterday saying that they needed to do an employment verification and asked who they should call (like I know?!) - nothing like waiting until the last minute!

We passed the Final Inspection!

Rich has the CO in his hands...which means we can move in! BUT, Rich has to go to Alabama tomorrow, so moving in will have to wait for next weekend. My mom and I are going to start setting up Kalee's room and move some of the boxes that have been in storage for the past 2 years. I am excited about seeing all that stuff - mostly kitchen and decorative items - yay! We are going to rent a U-Haul next weekend, even though we are only moving a 1/4 of a mile. 50 trips back and forth in the pick-up trucks just doesn't sound too exciting! Anyway, I'll post pictures as we make progress.
