Drywall!

They started the drywall yesterday and should be completed today! The house looks so closed in, now! This is a pic of the dining room, off of the kitchen. It's supposed to rain for the next 2 days, so no caulking for us this weekend. It might even snow on Sunday - we'll believe it when we see it!

The latest...

The roof is finished and the siding is pretty much completed. They have started the insulation - all the exterior walls are done. AND...we now have porches that we can walk on!!!

The front portch was completed when I got from home this afternoon - it looks great. I really didn't want to have railings on the front porch, but I guess it is code that it has to be there - dumb! :)

So, since I'm keeping track, I think this might be my fourth favorite thing about the house. See the hole with the yellow wire? There are 4 or 5 of them in the eaves around the house...these are plugs for our Christmas lights! No more running extension cords all over creation!
This is the "rock" that covers the area where the well was drilled. Crystal is definitely going to have to help us fix this thing up...it is UGLY!!!

Kalee's "stuff"

Here are a few pictures of Kalee's "stuff" for her new bedroom/bathroom. She is sooooo excited.
She wanted to paint her walls black, but since that is not going to happen I decided we could accent with black! fun, fun fun!

This is her new bedding.

This is a picture of the bed that I have ordered for Kalee's room. I showed it to her last night and she was not impressed...I asked her what she didn't like about it and she said "I thought I was getting that cute pink and black bed!" Once I explained that I was only talking about the frame she was thrilled. She's too cute. This is a chandelier that will hang in a corner of her room. She LOVES this! Her night light!I saw this mannequin in the jcpenney catalog this weekend. Kalee would be thrilled if this happened to show up in her room - I didn't even show it to her... It is a little too expensive ($130) If I could find at it half price I might be tempted! :) This is the vanity that will be in her bathroom. I also purchased the matching mirror, so she is set!

Caulking the Siding

We are going to paint the outside of the house ourselves, so we got started with the caulking today. We didn't realize that we would have to do all the caulking, but it went pretty well. Rich, my dad and I worked for about 4 hours and got quite a lot done.
We painted a small portion - Rich and I both have our favorite color, so it's a good thing we went ahead and put some on the house. I think we are going to need some time to decide which one we will pick!
Next week they will lay the shingles and start the drywall. Tony told Rich that we are 90 days out, so that means we can lock in an interest rate at any time. We are hearing that rates are supposed to go down, possible around 4.5%, so we are hoping for that!!!

Too cute!

The Hanley's are up here visiting...because I begged Shellie to come and help me make some important house decisions!!! We got a lot done yesterday!

Midnight fell asleep with Rachie last night...it was too cute!
Not much has changed at the house...they are still working on the siding. The A/C and electrical rough in's are completed. I picked out all my cabinets and counter tops and some of the lights yesterday. Making progres...

Our growing puppy!

So, here is a picture of something other than the house! My friend wanted to see how big Midnight was getting, so here are a couple pics. She is adorable and a great puppy - we are all having a lot of fun with her.

Jade is begrudgingly sharing her bed! I was surprised that she allowed Midnight on it!

Siding and the Fireplace

They started attaching the hardi-plank siding today...I guess it is a long process - the builder said it will take about 2 weeks to complete. Rich and I were surprised to see the molding at the top of the window - seems kind of decorative for outside! We like it, but it was not something that we were expecting.
We can't wait to use the fireplace! I think this is my 2nd favorite feature of the house (with the stairs being the first!!!)

Oh My Gish!!!

It has been FREEZING here, so yesterday was the first time I had been up to the house for 2 days...and all I can say is Oh My Gish!!! I was shocked at all the things that had been done! The plumbing is in, Kalee's shower is sitting in her bathroom, the A/C installation has started and the doors and windows had been delivered. Today, they came out and installed the doors and windows. I am amazed!!! We have to walk through the house tomorrow to decide where we want all our electrical outlets - they will be installed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The siding is supposed to go up on Monday and the A/C should be finished on Monday, too. Good times...

Tar Paper and Plastic Wrap (or something like that!!!)

It is FREEZING here today...I was shocked to hear them hammering away this morning! I really thought they might take the day off! I don't know what is next, but it appears it won't be too long before they lay the shingles and put the concrete siding on.
