getting a little closer...

We are really getting down to the last few little things...

The permanent Power needs to be hooked up - Tony put the call in to the electric company 3 weeks ago, so he hopes they will be out any day. Once the permanent power is hooked up we need to run the a/c or heat for about 5 days, then the crew will come out to sand and stain the wood floors - which will take about 7 days. After that the appliances will go in (already purchased!) and then it will be time for carpet! Tony said he thinks we could be in by the end of April - which would be nice!

All the lighting is in...
Rich is finishing up the shower this week - he hopes to be done by Friday.
I'm not "loving" the finished look of the bathroom - Rich and I both do not like the countertop that I picked, especially now that we see everything together. I think that is what is throwing everything off. Anyway, now I just need Shellie to come back up here so that we can fix it!!! :)
I do love my sinks and the sink and tub faucets - they look great!

And here is Kalee's chandelier in her pink room! It looks a little lonely in there right now - I can't wait to see Kalee's room - finished!

Midnight is "special"!!!

Rich has decided that we just know how to pick the "special" dogs! Over the last week or so Midnight's ears have decided to do different things. We just laugh every time we look at her! They are the same when she is playing or resting, so I think this is going to be how they stay. Too funny!

Stuff...

The "professionals" came out to paint the exterior of the house...Rich and I just didn't have it in us to try to tackle painting the exterior, after all! It looks fabulous!
The cabinet company was out yesterday, too, putting in the finishing touches. The put the sink and top on Kalee's vanity and hung the mirrors in both bathrooms. Kalee is so silly - she just kept raving about her "so cool" vanity yesterday when she showed it to her Nana!

A crew is at the house today installing all the electrical fixtures. They hooked up the A/C units yesterday. I think the plumbers are going to be at the house today, too.

Painting, Painting and a little bit of slate!

SOOOOOOOO OVER PAINTING!!!!!! We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, though - thank goodness! I was super excited to come home today to see that my parents had spent the day painting the last of the walls. All that is left is the cutting in - oh, and the stairwell. Rich has spent the last 2 days working on the floor in our bathroom. It is looking great!
We really like the paint color. It is a little darker than I expected - not that I mind - I just wasn't sure Rich would like it. But, he does, so all is well!!! :)I told Kalee to strike a pose for her Grammie T...here's what she came up with!Midnight is definitely Rich's dog! She thinks he is just the best thing. And, as you can see, he spoils her just a little.

The latest...

We started the HUGE task of painting the inside of the house. I took Friday and today off from work to help Rich. We started filling nail holes and caulking the trim early last week and finished most of that by Friday. Rich started spraying the primer on Saturday and the ceiling paint on Sunday. Today we painted Kalee's room and our room. We got most of it done - just a little trim work left to do.

Can you say PINK???? Kalee picked "Fussy Pink" for her room color. She asked me if it would make her fussy...I told her that I sure hoped it wouldn't!
I picked the same brown that we had painted our room in Florida - I love it.It was so dang cold on Saturday that we decided to rent a kerosene heater - I think that is the best investment we have made so far! It ended up being cold and rainy all weekend. I think the sun is finally supposed to come out tomorrow (of course, now that I am going back to work)!A crew came and laid the stone around the fireplace on Saturday - we love it - just wish there was A LOT more of it! The trim is almost finished - they ran out of stuff for the staircase, so they'll be back to finish it tomorrow. The staircase looks great!

We were so excited to spend a couple days with Charley (and Crystal and Kelly) last weekend. Charley is such a sweet baby! I'm telling you...we really do make the sweetest babies in this family! Charley got to spend all of Sunday with my parents - now they say they are really ready for another grandchild! I can see why - Charley is a joy to have around!

Cabinets and doors...and I LOVE them both!!!

The cabinet installation started today - I LOVE my kitchen cabinets! I also like the interior doors that we picked. We have to paint this weekend, so we are in the middle of trying to pick out colors. This is one job that I am not looking forward to...I don't mind the painting, but the prep work has me a little freaked out!

On a funny note...my grandma wanted to know if the cabinet people were going to come back and clean all the brown "gook" off the cabinets! Silly grandma... I knew she wouldn't like them!

Tile! Day 2

Thanks Uncle Vince!!! Thanks Crystal and Kelly!!! We made some great progress today! The shower in our bathroom is close to being completed. We still have the floors and the tub surround to do, but the shower ended up being a MUCH bigger job than we expected. We really love how it looks, though! Crystal came over on Friday to help lay out the slate. Once we realized that Rich and Vince weren't going to be able to accomplish everything we had planned Crystal called Kelly and he came over Saturday evening. They stayed for most of the day today and got the laundry room and Kalee's bathroom completed! What a huge help! Pictured below is the laundry room.
Here is Kalee's bathroom - looks so nice! They laid the wood floors on Friday. We gave up on the idea of doing it ourselves. It ended up being one thing too many! We are going to have them stained a dark color...

Tile!

Too tired to type much tonight - but here are some pictures of the tile. It looks great! I am so tired - and I wasn't the one doing all the hard work! We are definitely giving Uncle Vince a good workout ~ sorry Aunt Sue!They guys paused to admire the sunset - picture was taken off the front porch. Very nice!

Snow!

So, we got snow! There was no school or work for us today - our first snow day! It was a lot of fun...at first. It started snowing around noon on Sunday and continued for about 5 hours, solid. It came down thick - there were huge snowflakes! Then for the next 4 hours it flipped between sleet and snow. I just heard on the news that our area got around 6 inches - wow! The not so fun part was losing power for about 23 hours. This was very frustrating because I had the bright idea to cook a chicken and a roast in crockpots (to have meals for the week), both which were only partially cooked when the power went out. See if I do that again - ha! The other not fun part, which we know all about in FL, is losing most of what was in my fridge. Rich did venture out this morning and brought back some ice, so we packed the freezer with that. Overall (now that the power is back on) it was fun. AND, as you can see in the pictures, Rich's cunnerman blood kicked in and he built a makeshift wood stove for me today, so that I could finish cooking what I started yesterday. Fun times!Kalee's friend Emma came over to play - we were pretty sure that we weren't going to get snow - it had rained all morning. Rich had to run by Emma's house to get play clothes, after the snow started! The covered bridgeCunnerman spirit...in true form!We decided that we had better start saving water - luckily we didn't have to use all that we saved! S'mores...after the hot dogs, of course! Perfect fire cooked foods!
Kalee, warming her frozen feet!
