Siding and the Fireplace

They started attaching the hardi-plank siding today...I guess it is a long process - the builder said it will take about 2 weeks to complete. Rich and I were surprised to see the molding at the top of the window - seems kind of decorative for outside! We like it, but it was not something that we were expecting.
We can't wait to use the fireplace! I think this is my 2nd favorite feature of the house (with the stairs being the first!!!)

Oh My Gish!!!

It has been FREEZING here, so yesterday was the first time I had been up to the house for 2 days...and all I can say is Oh My Gish!!! I was shocked at all the things that had been done! The plumbing is in, Kalee's shower is sitting in her bathroom, the A/C installation has started and the doors and windows had been delivered. Today, they came out and installed the doors and windows. I am amazed!!! We have to walk through the house tomorrow to decide where we want all our electrical outlets - they will be installed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The siding is supposed to go up on Monday and the A/C should be finished on Monday, too. Good times...

Tar Paper and Plastic Wrap (or something like that!!!)

It is FREEZING here today...I was shocked to hear them hammering away this morning! I really thought they might take the day off! I don't know what is next, but it appears it won't be too long before they lay the shingles and put the concrete siding on.

They started the rafters yesterday. They build them on site, which is very interesting (in Florida they come in pre-built pieces). The start of the front porch!

Today's Progress

They formed the fireplace today. They also started the rafters for the roof and finished laying all the floor boards, so we were able to walk through the entire house today. They also layed the boards for the back porch. It's really coming together now and it's easy to see what it is going to look like.

This is the view out of my bathroom window (like how I said "my"?) Our bathtub will sit beneath this window...ahhhhh...relaxing!

Excited!!!

Wow...it's so exciting to come home every day!

This is the wall of Kalee's bedroom and the Dining Room...

This is the back (obviously!) From left to right - Kalee's bedroom, Dining Room, Living Room, our bedroom.

This is my absolute favorite part of the house...the stairs! I really wanted stairs that had a landing...I love 'em!

This is the view from the living room...I wish the trees were a little closer, but we'll just have to plant a bunch of new ones!

Framing has started!

They started framing today...everything looks great!

HA HA HA...

So, it only took 7 years, but...Kalee finally figured out that she can try to sneak the dog (Jade) food that she doesn't want to eat. Try, being the operative word!

We had Chili for dinner last night and Kalee got caught giving Jade some of her tomatoes. Now, Kalee likes tomatoes, so I am not sure why she felt the need to give them to Jade!

Rich and I were finishing up a movie, so we were eating in the living room and Kalee was eating at the table. Rich just happened to look back to see if Kalee was done and noticed that Jade was near the table (she never comes near the table when we are eating...even when we call her over to give her something it always takes her a minute or two before she decides that it is ok!), so he knew something was up! Luckily Kalee told the truth, but still!!! That girl!

And we always wondered how our parents always knew when we were doing something wrong!! It's soooo obvious!

We've got bathroom tile!!! Slate, actually...

Every time we have gone to look at tile for our bathroom Rich always reminds me that he wants to use Slate. I wasn't too sure about it. And then...we were out looking at tile last night and found this slate for a price we couldn't pass up, so... This tile will be the floor in our bathroom. This is the shower floor and wall tile. I really like these tiles...they are a little more colorful. Together they look great! Now I just have to rethink my bathroom vanity and countertops.
